Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
-
- We’re in Hoffman Estates, IL. We’re adjacent to the Barrington Rd exit from I-90. However we’ve trained dogs from all over the country!
What is your facility like?
-
- We are located in a 10,000 sq ft newly-renovated facility with large training spaces. We’re fully climate controlled, and we have a fully fenced backyard for outdoor work.
When do programs start?
-
- We start new programs every Monday. As an example, our 12-Day Board & Train program would start on Monday and end on the Friday of the week following. Our 10-Day Day Training program is two consecutive Monday-Fridays.
How do I get scheduled?
-
- We prefer to meet each dog before they sign up for training, just so that we can be sure that we can deliver on your expectations. So the first step is to come in for a free 30 minute consultation so that we can meet you and answer any questions you have. You can schedule that consultation at www.dogtrainingnow.com/free-consultation.
What are the payment terms?
-
- Our standard policy is that 50% of the tuition is due at the time of booking as a non-refundable deposit, and the remaining 50% is due on the first day of training. We also offer 6 months, 0% interest financing through the All Pet Card, a “Care Credit Style” card designed for pet expenses. Visit go.allpet.com to see if you pre-qualify (no effect on your credit score).
Can my dog start training as soon as I bring them home?
-
- We require that dogs have been in your home for a minimum of 2 weeks before the first day of training. This is done because many common dog illnesses can take up to two weeks to show symptoms, and if your dog unknowingly came home to you with it, we don’t want to expose our other dogs.
Do you have any age limits for training?
-
- For obedience training, dogs must be at least 16 weeks of age. There is no upper age limits, we’ve trained 13 year old dogs! It’s never too late. For Puppy Day Camp, puppies must be between 8-16 weeks of age.
What are your hours?
-
- The drop-off window each morning is from 7:00am-8:30am, and the pick-up window each evening is from 3:30pm-6:00pm. We’re open 7:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday.
Can I dropoff or pickup my dog from boarding on weekends?
-
- We absolutely board dogs over weekends and holidays, however we do not offer dropoff or pickup when our studio is closed. Our trainers are using their days at home with your dog to work on their behaviors in a real home and going out on field trips.
What vaccines do you require?
-
- We require that all dogs have “age appropriate” vaccines. For dogs over 16 weeks of age, they must have the Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. For Puppy Day Campers, they must have the “age appropriate” number of Distemper/Parvo vaccines and the Bordetella vaccine if your vet deems it appropriate.
What do I need to bring?
-
- If your dog eats lunch, we’re happy to offer it to them, just bring it in a sandwhich bag with their name on it. We ask that you feed breakfast and dinner at home. Otherwise, your dog must have a collar or harness to which we can hook up a leash.
Where do the dogs sleep?
-
- In our Day Training programs, the dogs sleep at home with you of course! In our Board and Train programs, no dogs sleep in our studio. They go home each night to the loving home of a professional trainer.
Will my dog miss me?
-
- We find that dogs warm up pretty quickly to our environment. They’ll form great bonds with our trainers, but as soon as they see you when you pick them up, they’ll forget we exist.
My dog is nervous/shy/reactive, will they succeed?
-
- One of the most rewarding parts of this job is watching a shy dog become more confident. We’ve found that enrollment in our programs has an amazing way of not only teaching new skills, but increasing confidence and social skills.
After training, can my dog join daycare?
-
- We don’t offer a traditional “50 dogs in a play room” style daycare. Instead, we offer a Graduate Refresher Training program, which we consider a better alternative to daycare or kennel boarding. Instead of going to a pit of dogs and learning a bunch of new bad habits, they come here and refresh good habits. Many clients use this as a safer, more productive, less injury prone version of daycare. We also offer a boarding version of this program where the dogs go home with one of our trainers each night. In order to be eligible for this program, dogs must have completed a 2-week or longer obedience training program.
