The first thing to do is to learn to communicate with your pup.  We do this by teaching our pup through obedience.  We let our pup know exactly what it is we want them to do.  And we have fun doing it!  As we teach, we use so much praise and motivation.  Soon, the minute your pup sees the leash he will get excited and really look forward to another training session.

After your dog understands what we want, we can now give them tools to avoid undesirable behavior.  We teach them “Off” when they jump and give them lots of pets and attention when they “Say Hi” and keep all 4 paws on the floor.  We teach them a down command.  When they are on in a down stay, they are not barking at or jumping on anyone!  And of course, they gets tons of praise for staying in a down.
