Junie Goes to Preschool

If you haven’t had a chance to check out our newest Dog Training now student, let us formally introduce you to Junie. This sweet Brittany pup is full of energy and happy to be enjoying life with her family of three here in Schaumburg. We are going to be keeping you updated on all of her time in, and out, of obedience training at Dog Training Now.

The first step in our plan for Junie was to get her enrolled in our Puppy Preschool Program. To date, she has been to three classes and is set to graduate after her next session. Over the past three weeks, we have had the chance to get to know Junie a bit better, along with starting to grow her family’s confidence. Junie’s family (Mom, Dad, and a kindergarten boy we’ll call J) has made the commitment to attend each Preschool with her. We recommend bringing the whole family in for the Puppy Preschool experience so that everyone, including the puppy, can enjoy the time together.

Junie has been exposed to many new things in her time at Preschool. Not only is she getting excellent socialization during our “Pass the Puppy” exercise – our version of preschool circle time – but she is also getting exposed to other puppies, big and small. Junie and her family have had the chance to see trainers Judy, Andrea, Nick, Chris, and Mary in action, teaching about topics ranging from dog body language to dog dental hygiene.

Junie has also had the chance to experience a few new sights and sounds ranging from a big vacuum cleaner (she wasn’t having it) to child’s toys (which J got to help with). She has played with a German Shepherd pup named Jammer and a Great Dane named Penny, and has had the chance to run, and sniff, around the Dog Training Now studio. Junie especially excels at the agility equipment like the dog walk, where she can show off her climbing skills and put some of that extra energy to good use.

As you might know, Dog Training Now doesn’t just train the dog. We also focus on giving the family good habits and guidance when it comes to raising a healthy and happy pup. Junie’s family has taken the training commands that they have learned in Preschool (sit, come, place) and have practiced with her daily. This time at home is crucial to Junie learning to focus, as well as to her family gaining confidence. It is always exciting and rewarding when your puppy actually listens to you!

We are wishing Junie well during her last class of Puppy Preschool and are even more excited as she moves on to the next step of her obedience plan – Day Training. Won’t you stay tuned to find out how this excitable little pup learns to focus and obey? We have big plans for this girl and her family; stay connected to her journey here at Dog Training Now right here on our blog and on our Facebook page.
